Bust out the disco ball and pump up the jams! Your baby is hardwired to dance. Last year the University of York, England conducted a study with babies ages 5 months to 2 years old. They were placed on the laps of their parent and music was played. The parents had headphones on and were instructed not to move. All of the children began to bounce, sway and move their arms and legs to the beat of the music. Marcel Zentner, a psychologist at the University of York said, “We also found that the better the children were able to synchronize their movements with the music, the more they smiled. “
Research has also found that this action is innate in humans. It still puzzles researches why this evolution has occurred; perhaps it was an early aid in communication. Whatever the reason, it is the cutest thing to watch a baby get down!
